Volunteer
Every day, our volunteers give of themselves by sharing their time, talent, compassion, services and resources that help in so many ways. At Centre 55 we know that our volunteer’s time is important, and the fact that they chose to spend those moments to help us achieve our impact in the community is EVERYTHING!
Throughout the year we have a variety of volunteer opportunities and flexible options available. The majority of our volunteer opportunities are during our Share a Christmas Program in December and at various special events throughout the year.
Some reasons to volunteer include:
- Learn new skills to add to your talent toolkit
- Obtain your mandatory 40 Ontario high school credit hours*
- Experience both personal and professional development
- Build a network of friends and professional contacts
- Be recognized and appreciated for your contribution
- Experience the satisfaction of giving back to The Beach community!
Some Centre 55 Volunteer opportunities include:
Share a Christmas Program
Beaches Santa Claus Parade
Breakfast with the Easter Bunny & Santa Claus
Seniors Events and Outings
Classic Car Show
Community Dinners
Blacktoe Holiday 10K Run
Food Drives
Soup Tasting Competition
Senior Dinners

We ensure that people know which programs and services exist and how to access them. We provide programs, host events and help navigate services to the Upper Beaches and Beaches community, all year round. We also work with a wide range of partnering organizations within our community such as Food Banks, other non-profit organizations, BIA’s and many more.

VolunteerWhat Our Volunteers Say
My name is Terry Coffin and I have been a CC55 volunteer since 2017.As someone who had passed by CC55 and never ventured in, my first revelation when I finally walked through the door and offered to volunteer for whatever they needed me for was to discover the broad range of activities/services they offered to our community. I was greeted warmly by staff and immediately felt welcomed (and put to work pretty quickly). From day care, summer camps, seniors’ classes and programs, the Christmas food and toy drive and much, much more, CC55 is an incredible community resource which I feel more people need to discover as volunteers and or participants.CC55 is an asset and an integral part of the fabric of our community.”

Community Centre 55 is a wonderful place for people of all ages. As a senior I have participated and volunteered in their programs for the past 10 years. The Share a Christmas Program is an enormous undertaking every year that helps so many families. None of this would be possible without the amazing and hardworking staff.

Volunteering at Centre 55 has profoundly impacted my life. I am a newcomer to Canada, having relocated from South Africa in January 2024. Volunteering has enabled me to meet people and learn about the culture and traditions of my new home. I have been met with friendliness and encouragement by the staff of Centre 55 and the members of the community with whom I have interacted. When I have had questions, people have gone out of their way to assist, often beyond expectations. I have met individuals who have become friends, which has eased my transition into my new life. Also, as a recent retiree, volunteering has ensured that I feel useful and part of the wider community.
